I saw The Grand Budapest Hotel on Wednesday and just god. I loved it. I loved it so fucking much. It was just like a very whimsical and somewhat dark dream. Like all of it. The characters were adorable, the settings and cinematography was gorgeous (I adored the pastel sort of coloring) and the story was very sweet. The ending made me want to cry but the whole thing in general had me smiling throughout so I was left with a very happy sort of feeling lmao.
Gustave, Zero and Agatha were all so fucking cute. ♥ Gustave is a lovely main character just in general.
The rest of the cast was amazing. Jude Law was so fucking pretty, Tilda Swinton was haunting, Edward Norton will always remind of Fight Club no matter what he's wearing. The love of my life, Jeff Goldblum was ADORABLE. I loved him so much lmao and it was so nice to see him in something. It's been a while. Adrian Brody makes a very sharply dressed horrible person, and Willem Dafoe is fucking scary. God.
he smashed my head into a mirror
Mar. 12th, 2014 10:34 pmI read Penpal (the original postings) for the first time today and it's made me hilariously paranoid. God.
I've been playing Gemini Rue (on my phone) and I love it. ♥
Finished
stopongreen's and my little Brosnan/Craig Bond marathon lmao:
Die Another Day: Lmao this was fun. It was lovely to see Rosamund Pike again and Halle Berry's character was hilarious. The villain in this one was also really fun to watch.
Casino Royale: GOD I'D FORGOTTEN HOW SAD THIS WAS. But I love it. Vesper is wonderful and I adore James/Vesper so so so much.
Quantum of Solace: STILL SAD. I do love that this dealt with the emotional fallout after the end of Casino.
Skyfall: UGH ALSO SAD. I love M so much. The new Q is adorable. Silva makes my heart hurt.
Other things I've seen recently:
300: Rise of Empire: I adored 300 and I loved this one even more. Eva Green's character was amazingly fun to watch. The overdramatic naval battles were great. And I always enjoy watching buff half naked men brutally murder each other.
Grand Piano: A good thriller. Elijah Wood plays a pianist who is terrorized during a concert to play perfectly by a sniper. Great music.
Attack the Block: A fun monster thriller featuring some adorable teenagers. The soundtrack is amazing.
This Is the End: One of those rare movies that I absolutely hated and yet kept watching. I still hated it by the end.

GoldenEye: I really loved this one. Sean Bean's character made my heart hurt. ♥
Tomorrow Never Dies: I loved the villain in this one so much.
The World Is Not Enough: Elektra broke my heart, badly. ;;;;;;
Die Another Day is next! And then on to Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace/Skyfall. Wheee.
Had a mini movie marathon with
stopongreen this week!
The Heat: Really really funny and cute. ♥
Shaun of the Dead: Oh my god this was way more heartbreaking than I remember it being.
Porco Rosso: Oh my god I can't believe I've never seen this before. Really sweet.
And today I went to see The Lego Movie! I meant to go to the 10AM showing but had some horrible cramps in the morning so I took some painkillers and lay in bed for a while AND THEN MADE A MIRACULOUS RECOVERY AND WENT TO THE 3PM SHOWING. AND IT WAS FUCKING SOLD OUT.
BUT THERE WAS A 3:45PM SHOWING AND I GOT TICKETS FOR THAT SO CRISIS AVERTED.
It was REALLY cute. Like from beginning to end. The script was WONDERFUL and really self-aware. The audience I was with was a really mixed audience of kids and adults and the adults, myself included, were actually laughing a lot more than the kids which was really great. THE JOKES WERE ADORABLE, THE CASTING WAS PERFECT AND THE FUCKING THEME SONG IS GOING TO STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR YEARS.

Jan. 29th, 2014 08:18 pmI watched Oblivion today. Went into it knowing nothing (other than seeing the poster and knowing Tom Cruise was in it) and really liked it overall. It was a bit predictable in some parts but it had an interesting little story with a decent amount of mystery. Visually it was fucking gorgeous and I loved the emotional parts of the story too. PRETTY GOOD.
I've been rewatching Hot Fuzz every fucking day this week (it makes me so happy) and I watched The World's End again today AND I REALLY LIKED IT A LOT MORE THE SECOND TIME.
(SPOILERS FOR THE WORLD'S END AHEAD)
Like I enjoyed it plenty the first time around but a rewatch is particularly heartbreaking once you know about Gary's suicide attempt (which you learn about near the end of the movie). It really puts all of his actions and bravado in a different light. And I actually kind of burst into tears during the scene when Andy finally sees Gary's bandaged wrists for the first time. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Very upsetting. Good stuff.

Jan. 20th, 2014 07:28 pmI watched Prisoners over the weekend and REALLY loved it. It had the same sort of slow quiet thriller feel that Zodiac did (which I also really adored) but benefited from much tighter writing and a smaller, less spread out, cast of characters. The atmosphere (lots of rain lmao) was also lovely. Anyways great stuff and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected considering it's about child abduction and has a good dose of torture (not child torture) too. ♥

OH GOD DIAVOLO'S SUPER ACTION STATUE WENT UP FOR PREORDER. OH GOD HE'S FINALLY COLORED. ( larger pictures and babbling )

Jan. 9th, 2014 03:34 pmWatched The World's End yesterday and it was a lot more touching and emotional than I was expecting. I liked it.
Played Gone Home last week. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and honestly found the story lovely. I mean it wasn't like a really amazing story but it was sweet and well written and made me smile a lot. ( cute for spoilers )
Kentucky Route Zero was odd and beautiful and a little haunting and I really enjoy vague horror weirdness so I loved it a lot.
Devil Survivor is going well. I'm having a bit of trouble with an escort sort of mission which I'm not really surprised at because I usually have lots of trouble with escort/protection missions since my first instinct is to use hapless civilians as human shields. BUT I'LL FIGURE IT OUT. I'LL KEEP THESE BASTARDS ALIVE.

Jan. 1st, 2014 09:32 pmI saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Elysium last week. I already knew I'd love DoS and I did: every minute was amazing (even all the time-stretching padding lmao), I really loved Tauriel (and honestly found her little thing with Kili cute), Lee Pace's Thranduil is so WONDERFUL, all the needlessly there Legolas action scenes made me so happy, Bard was adorable, and Smaug himself was gloriously dragon-y.
Elysium was...enjoyable. I liked it a lot, but feel like I would really have loved it a lot more if it was a sci-fi short story that I read instead of a film. The movie's writing could have been a bit better. Or tighter. I think I enjoyed it more than it is an actually great movie.

AAAAAAAAH I'M HOME. My trip was super fun, I got to spend a ton of time with all my delightfully amusing family, good times for the last two weeks.
BUT I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF TO CATCH UP ON AHHHH. SO MANY MESSAGES AND COMMENTS AAAAAH.
I'm behind on Hunter x Hunter and I don't want to catch up BECAUSE THE NEXT EPISODE THAT I HAVE TO WATCH IS GOING TO MAKE ME CRY I ALREADY KNOW IT. So that might wait.
Free! looks like a lot of fun lmao, I should maybe get to that today~~~~~
AND THE REST OF THE START OF THE SUMMER ANIME SEASON AAAAH I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I WAS GOING TO WATCH.
The full version of Guren no Yumiya is LMAO very interesting (I like it!) BUT OMG I ADORE WINGS OF FREEDOM. The new opening should air on Saturday (RIGHT???!) and AAAAAH I'M SO EXCITED. LEVI/HANJI/ERWIN SHOULD ALL BE IN IT, I THINK EEEEEEEE.
I played all of Resident Evil 6 (split-screen coop!) with my cousin over the last two weeks. WHICH IS A REALLY KIND OF HILARIOUS WAY TO PLAY. AND I LOVED IT. I think my expectations were lowered a bit, which may have made the game better in my eyes but I really enjoyed all of it. I LOVED EVERYONE. LEON, HELENA (;;;;), SHERRY, JAKE (omg jaaaaaake), CHRIS, PIERS (<3), AND ADAAAAAAAA. ALL OF THEM. SO MUCH. I really dug the separate storylines and the way they all told one larger story together. FUN FUN.
I also played Metal Gear Rising LMAO. I really loved the gameplay. The story...had a lot of potential. I wished the villains were more fleshed out (I bought Sam's and Bladewolf's DLC for this reason). Idk. I actually like the game overall but hate a lot of it?? Sort of? Parts of it at least. I mean it's fine but I guess I was expecting something a bit different. ANYWAYS IT WAS A PRETTY GAME. I used the Mariachi costume a lot. And made Raiden vomit a lot.
MOVIES! (since my cousins and I try to watch one most nights):
Man of Steel: I loved it. It made me cry and I loved the extra long action scenes.
World War Z: WOW. I would call this a terrible adaptation EXCEPT THE MOVIE DIDN'T ACTUALLY ADAPT ANYTHING FROM THE BOOK. Anyways the book is excellent and very recommended by me and the movie is very mediocre and I think I'm being kind.
Mary and Max: Adorable and heartwarming/heartbreaking. I loved it.
Argo: Very interesting. I enjoyed it. I was also blitzed out of my mind on vodka during this one SO YOU KNOW. I MAY BE REMEMBERING INCORRECTLY.
Gangster Squad: LMAO I LOVED THIS MOVIE. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. THE EXTRA DRAMATIC CHARACTERS. THE DRAMATIC FISTFIGHT AT THE END. DRAMATIC RYAN GOSLING. THE DRAMATIC EVERYTHING.
Prometheus: Wow. This movie was visually GORGEOUS. Fassbender did a fabulous job as David AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS TERRIBLE. I haven't hated an entire cast of characters so much. And the story.
Hansel and Gretel: LMAO. But I found Hansel's and Gretel's relationship adorable and I actually enjoyed it. It's kind of funny if you don't take it too seriously.
Cloud Atlas: SO LONG. SO VERY LONG. I liked it but I think I would have liked it more if it was shorter. It's a pretty story at least.
Premium Rush: Fun. Bikes. Good.
Looper: I saw the ending coming from a bazillion miles away but I liked this one a lot. The little kid was such a terrifying creepy cutie. ♥
Flight: This one made me really happy. Loved it~~~~
Paranormal Activity 4: Lmao I love this stupid series. Not bad.

Jun. 27th, 2012 12:12 amL.A. Confidential is such a perfect movie, I love everything about it so fucking much. And I can't believe I've never read the book before. I'm pretty sure I've read some James Ellroy stuff but it was probably when I was in middle school or elementary. Since I don't remember a damned thing, I stopped by the public library (IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ICE CREAM RUN YUM YUM YUM) and took everything that was on the shelves at the moment: Suicide Hill, The Cold Six Thousand, The Big Nowhere, L.A. Noir, and Hollywood Nocturnes. LET'S SEE IF I CAN DIG UP SOME MEMORIES, BRAIN. 8D
Oh and I finally watched Hot Fuzz. It's adorable and hilarious and fun to slash and I really really enjoyed it a lot.
