Happy New Year! SO MUCH CLEANING TO DO TODAY AAAAH.

I've had Stephen King's The Tommyknockers sitting on my nightstand for like two weeks now and I'm like a chapter into it. Reading Desperation (and completely loving it) made me want to read The Regulators (since the two of them go together) BUT I'M AN IDIOT WHO COMPLETELY FORGOT THE TITLE WHEN REQUESTING IT FROM THE LIBRARY AND ENDED UP WITH THE TOMMYKNOCKERS INSTEAD. GODDAMMIT STEPHEN KING I CAN'T KEEP THESE VAGUE BOOK TITLES STRAIGHT.

(LMAO IT TOOK ME A WEEK TO REALIZE MY MISTAKE)

Anyway, I'm going to read it. SOON. I WILL.

These adorable New Years Fate/Zero illustrations from Comiket 83 WARM MY HEART AWWWW. EVERYONE LOOKS SO CUTE. AND ALIVE.

And I'm totally excited about the Gintama anime finally getting around to the Courtesan of a Nation arc! SERIOUS STORYLINE! PLOT-IMPORTANT STORYLINE! I honestly thought it would take a lot longer to get to it BUT I'M NOT COMPLAINING. I'M VERY HAPPY.

Lmao so there's apparently no new scenes in the second Fate/Zero BD boxset (compared to the like 14 added in the first one) ahauahgeughaeughksdjhsldjfskjdkf. But the animation booklet has adorable interviews with the cast SO THAT MAKES ME PRETTY HAPPY. 8D Especially Team Archer:

Sho Hayami (Tokiomi), Jouji Nakata (Kirei), Tomokazu Seki (Gilgamesh), Kana Ueda (Rin):
Seki (Gilgamesh): What I remember from the recording sessions is "kanji." This was a show where the kanji in the recording scripts were killer.
All: (all laugh)
Hayami (Tokiomi): Like the ones for "impertinent," right?
Seki (Gilgamesh): I looked them up in the dictionary before coming in, but there were some expressions that weren't in there. I'd go in early to the studio to get confirmation from the staff. And since I didn't know where to put the stress on the obscure kanji, it was also hard to use them in my preformance.
Hayami (Tokiomi): The word "Mage" popped up a lot in Tokiomi's lines, but it's hard to read smoothly. It crushed my spirit.
All: (all laugh)
Ueda (Rin): It's the fate of the Tohsakas. Back during Fate/stay night, I had to say "Mage" a lot, too.
Hayami (Tokiomi): And it is because of that fate that the Tohsaka family failed? (laughs)

Hahahah awww.

Ueda (Rin): Rin is always striving to live up to what is expected of her as a daughter of the Tohsaka Mage family, so they asked me right from episode 1 not to play her too sadly. Even in the funeral scene in the final episode for her father, Tokiomi, I thought that she wouldn't cry, so I didn't let my feelings show on my own face. When Kirei gives her father's Azoth sagger as a keepsake and she can't hold it in anymore and starts crying, I myself was about to break into tears in that scene. Although Rin doesn't know how her father really died, I do, so some of that resentment might have crept in.
Nakata (Kirei): Please accept my heartfelt apologies.
All: (all laugh)

Gheugheguh. XD

Hayami (Tokiomi): I loved your portrayal of Gilgamesh, Seki.
Seki (Gilgamesh): Thank you!
Hayami (Tokiomi): I wonder if you'd call that youshikibi (the beauty of process and form)? There are those archaic turns of phrase like you'd hear in kabuku. It was awfully pleasent to listen to.
Seki (Gilgamesh): When I played Gilgamesh in Fate/stay night years ago, the audio director at the time, Koji Tsujitani, gave me the direction, "Make it sound like you're preforming a play in a Greek temple, and your audience are the stars." He might have been on to something there.

I LOVED how dramatic Seki played Gilgamesh. ♥♥♥

Nakata (Kirei): Kirei even lays a hand on your Tokiomi, Mr. Hayami. I got a lot of grief from everyone over that (laughs).
All: (all laugh)
Nakata (Kirei): Tokiomi is the best of all the people in Zero. Why in the world would someone go and kill him? (laughs) Oh, prehaps the Azoth dagger is to blame. Right after Kirei recieves the Azoth dagger from Tokiomi, he stabs him with it.
Hayami (Tokiomi): Ah, I follow you... I shouldn't have given Kirei a sharp object (laughs).

Now all I can imagine is Tokiomi in the afterlife convincing himself of that awww. I wonder if he'll ever understand what happened. XD

Nakata (Kirei): Kiritsugu's past is laid out in detail (episodes 18, 19), and after Archer defeats Rider, he shows us his softer side and lets Waver go (episode 23). Kirei is the only one who ends the show remaining a complete scoundrel (laughs). On the contrary, I sense a touch of happiness in him over that. This is joy.
Seki (Gilgamesh): He experienced joy?!
Nakata (Kirei): Indeed.

TEAM YUETSU FOREVER~~~~~

Nakata (Kirei): Normally, the war would have been won the instant Gilgamesh was summoned.
Seki (Gilgamesh): You're right. Which means that Tokiomi shouldn't have laid out such intricate plans.
Ueda (Rin): He should've sent Archer on an all-out offensive right away and asked him to go defeat all the other Servants. And have Kirei tell Assassin to target the Masters.
Seki (Gilgamesh): You're right. Tokiomi didn't use Archer very effectively at all.

THE IMAGE OF RIN/KIREI/GILGAMESH RAGGING ON TOKIOMI'S SHIT STRATEGIES TOGETHER IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS EVER NOW.

Babbling about some tracks from Fate/Zero OST II:

CURSE: Oh god the track from Lancer's death. A FITTING TITLE. ;;

THE SWORD OF PROMISED VICTORY ~FATE/ZERO VER.: Excalibur~~~ Just as beautiful as I remembered. I love that this was only used once.

BABYLONIA: Lmao for some reason I remember this theme being associated more with Rider's scenes than Gilgamesh's, though I think it might have been used during the first time Gil and Berserker fought in the first season. I THINK.

BETRAYER: Heheheh the bit used for Kirei's and Gilgamesh's contract. The subtlely of this title astounds me.

YOU ARE MY KING: Oh god. The first half of this track was used for Waver's and Rider's last conversation and then the second half goes into Rider's last charge s-sob. WHICH WAS ALSO used for Saber's motorcycle charge heheheheh. She's totally my king so that works too~~~ ♥

A MAN IN BLACK: Ooooh the track used for Gilgamesh's and Kirei's conversations. Title refering to Kirei, I assume. (A Man Of The Cloth would be a more hilarious title.) I love that it has sort of a jazzy lazy feel to it. Perfect wine guzzling and pseudophilosophical bullshitting music.

THE DREAM FADES BEFORE DAWN: I remember this being used while Irisviel was comforting Illya after her nightmare AND I WANT TO CRY AGAIN. ;;

THIS DAY, AND NEVER AGAIN: Ooooh this one. A bit overused (it stands out too much to use it very often imo) near the end of the series (Ea's summoning, twice during KiritsuguVSKirei and also SaberVSGilgamesh) but still one of favorites. ♥♥♥

THE DREAM FADES BEFORE DAWN #3: Oh god the track used when Iri woke up in the grail, complete with those horrible creepy bells near the end. Irisviel~~~~ ;;

THE WORLD IS TUMBLING DOWN: Lmao this title. Used in the last episode WHILE FUYUKI BURNED. SUBTLE.

SILVER MOON: Awww the bit from Kiritsugu's and Shirou's conversation. ;; Love the way the opening theme was mixed into this one. ♥
velshtein: (TAKASUGI open your ears)
Softly weeping at photos of this Fate/Zero exhibition. Everything is so beautiful gehugheugheguh.

Also all this stupid merchandise. Oh my god chocolate Lancer love spots. AND I SEE KIREI ON SOMETHING MAPO TOFU RELATED LMAO.

I lost my glasses in my bed for like ten minutes this morning because I was reading in bed and didn't feel like getting up and walking the three feet to my desk, last night, and it was hilariously stupid for me to look for them because I couldn't see and also my bedspread has a ridiculously complicated pattern on it so IT HIDES EVERYTHING.

And then I read a lovely essay about Kirei (The Liminal and Trickers in Fate/Zero or: why one should always be wary of listening to bored ancient Mesopotamians when there’s a war going on and your head is already full of conflict.) because I'm in a Fate/Zero mood thanks to the second boxset coming out next week.

I also have jury duty on the 19th so there's that. Less exciting. But important I guess.

Waver's (Fate/Zero) ALTAiR figure sculpt looks super adorable:

I can't wait to see it painted. 8D

The upcoming PS Vita version of Fate/Stay Night (the visual novel) looks pretty nice. I'm not really a huge fan of most of that story but the new animated bits in it make me happy because they look really great. Plus I'll probably go nuts over seeing any of Kirei's bits animated from Heaven's Feel (the third storyline, which never got animated) since he really gets to shine in that. Imo. Lmao. He's not that shiny.

AND WHEEE THE SECOND FATE/ZERO BLU-RAYS COME OUT ON THE 19TH. AND THE SOUNDTRACK. HOPEFULLY LOTS OF DELETED SCENES. I'M SO EXCITED.
velshtein: (STELLA danger danger)
Wheee preorder posters for the second Fate/Zero boxset! I like them a lot better than the set for the first one. Just because they're a lot more dynamic. Especially the Saber/Lancer one, the Kirei/Kiritsugu one and Saber on her motorcycle. ♥♥♥ NEXT MONTH, I CAN'T WAIT. \o/

I marathoned Arakawa Under The Bridge over the last two nights FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME OH GOD WHY HAVEN'T I EVER SEEN THIS BEFORE IT'S PERFECT AND HAPPY AND SWEET AND HILARIOUS AND I LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I'VE LITERALLY LOVED EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER AND ESPECIALLY STELLA AND SISTER OH GOD OH GOD AND TOO MANY OF MY FAVORITE VOICE ACTORS OH GOD OH GOD. ♥♥♥♥

Ugh summertime. Waking up each morning in a sweaty cocoon under the sheets is not my favorite day to start the day. BUT ICE CREAM MAKES IT BETTER. SUMMER = DELICIOUS ICE CREAM. I mean I eat it year-round but it feels more seasonal in the summer. 8D

Summer time means vacation and LOTS OF READING so I ambled over to the local public library to settle my debts (because I am so great at racking up late fines) and it was only $7.50 so I paid up and:

IT'S BEAUTIFUL. 8D

So I was thinking about Fate/Zero's Heroic Spirits and some of the nods towards their respective legends and:
about gilgamesh's pants )
