I marathoned Arakawa Under The Bridge over the last two nights FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME OH GOD WHY HAVEN'T I EVER SEEN THIS BEFORE IT'S PERFECT AND HAPPY AND SWEET AND HILARIOUS AND I LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I'VE LITERALLY LOVED EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER AND ESPECIALLY STELLA AND SISTER OH GOD OH GOD AND TOO MANY OF MY FAVORITE VOICE ACTORS OH GOD OH GOD. ♥♥♥♥

Omg Takasugi is such a nutcase. And then he just makes you sad once you get more of a picture about his and Gintoki's and Katsura's shared past and the horrible shit the three of them went through. WHICH WILL PROBABLY TAKE A WHILE BECAUSE OF HOW SPARSE HIS ON-SCREEN APPEARANCES ARE GEHGUEHGUH.

Gintoki and Katsura were actually talking about that in one of the most recent episodes (and smashing the fourth wall to bits) and how it's a pain to bring him in because then they'll have to go into their pasts a lot more deeply lmao.

BUT HE'S GREAT. 8D AND POSSIBLY THE ONLY TOTALLY SERIOUS CHARACTER IN IT.

AWMAN AZAZELLL, every time I hear his voice actor, no matter HOW NICE of a character it is, I cannot unhear SLEAZEBALL.

UGHH I KNOW THAT SMOOTHNESS AND I LOVE HOW I HEAR HIM EVERYWHERE. And yes ugh I love how much of a psycho Takasugi is. I remember reading an interview (though this was like...almost 10 years ago) where he mentioned Hotohori was one of the first/only NICE GUY HE PLAYED HAHAHA.

Oh my god - the only serious character in a slapstick, sometimes heartwrenching series. That is wonderful.

OH GOD YES. I don't know if part of it is because it's primarily a comedy so the non-comedic parts stand out more BUT HOLY SHIT GINTAMA MAKES ME CRY TOO MUCH. I DIDN'T EXPECT IT. And I adore how well the comedy and sad parts are written together too.

AND IT'S A GOOD LIFE LESSON: LIFE IS MOSTLY RIDICULOUS AND HEARTBREAKING.

I KNOW RIGHT. CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH KOYASU. And its always a delightful surprise when you watch something and he just pops up.

THAT'S TRUE, MAYBE THE COMEDY EXACERBATES THE SAD. I was near bawling over the robot episode aughg. And sometimes the series catches me off guard, I get worried this one heartwarming scene is going to end with chuckles but its kept kind of sweet.

Agreed! I'm always "I KNOW THAT VOICE~~~~~" I was really amused when he popped up in Toward the Terra, especially since Gintoki's VA is also a main character in it. XD

omg I remember you mentioning Gintoki and Shinsuke's VA together, its like they're such great BUDS.

omg Shinsuke's own brand of goofy/moron. I can see it happening while he's still completely serious/angry about it.

I would love to see Shinsuke's rage pile up (like Lucifer and Akutabe's meeting/with any other demon for that matter) while you just wait for the moment he snaps.
