velshtein: (NIGHTEYE thinking)

I was rereading/relistening to some Lovecraft this week and I've forgotten how much I LOVE The Colour Out of Space. It's got that sort of vague rural horror that I really enjoy (in a similar sort of vein as When the Wind Blows). Plus I've always had a mild fear of wells so that bit was extra deliciously creepy.

Got my tax return last week. I put away most of it in savings because I need a new car by the end of the year AND THEN I FINALLY GOT A PS4 WITH THE REST. I got a few games to start with: Final Fantasy Type 0 (which I played last year on an XBOXOne, but I really liked it SO AGAIN!!), Persona 5 (I like it so far), Tales of Berseria (I REALLY like this so far, Velvet is an adorable MC), and Odin Sphere (really pretty, really great).

I'm planning on getting Bloodborne next and then we're see where we go from there. :D

I've been really enjoying rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender (I haven't seen it since it aired) with [personal profile] stopongreen. We're about half a season to the end of the series and I've forgotten how AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT the ladies (Katara, Toph, Azula, Suki, Mai, Ty Lee) are. The guys are fine but the ladies are just fantastic. ♥

I'm so weak for tiny merchandise that I can put all over my desk. The shot glass is super cute too. I really dig that tiny Gjallarhorn logo printed on the bottom.

I started Steins;Gate (the visual novel, on Steam) recently and it's pretty amusing so far. Miyano's voice work is killing me, as usual lmao.

Nothing irrevocable had yet been spoken, but there was only the barest margin of safety left them; each of them moving delicately along the outskirts of an open question, and, once spoke, such a question--as "Do you love me?" --could never be answered or forgotten.

I read The Haunting of Hill House (by Shirley Jackson) this week and it was such a dreamy and beautiful story, I loved it so much. I was surprised at how quickly the characters grew on me and I really dug the weird sort of undefined horror throughout. :)

I started listening to Darkest Night! I'm on episode 5 so far and it's really good. The production value is fantastic and I love the voice acting. The gory sound effects crack me up too lmao. AND LEE PACE AS THE NARRATOR IS WONDERFUL TO LISTEN TOO EEEEEE.
velshtein: (AIZEN hand)

I LITERALLY AM SO FUCKING HAPPY ABOUT BLAME FINALLY GETTING AN ADAPTATION I CANT EVEN TAKL ABOUT I PROPERLY. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I loved Knights of Sidonia and I totally dig the 3DCGI look for both.

Still on episode 6 of Umineko! I keep taking long breaks but I'm going to try to finish this one soon.

Part of the reason I was not finishing that was because I finally played Danganronpa 1 and 2, since it came out of Steam recently. I LOVED BOTH OF THEM. cut for spoilers for both games )

I started playing Chrono Trigger for the first time! Well not exactly the first time since I started playing, on the recommendation of a friend in highschool (or middle school, idk it's been a long time) and I got like five minutes in and was like this looks interesting and then never played again.

But this time I'm doing well and it's so pretty and I love the story and it's really cute and funny eeeee.

I finished listening to Underwood and Flinch last week and I loved it to pieces. It's a fantastic little vampire story, with fantastic characters, and voices, and the ending fucking killed me. spoilers for the ending )
velshtein: (TINKER BELL keyhole)
I finally read Worm, on [livejournal.com profile] rabiya_al_basri's recommendation, and IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD HOLY SHIT. Like just a fantastic story from start to finish. I loved everything about it: the characters were all interesting in their own ways, the story was AMAZING (especially the final part of the story), the action scenes were literally the best that I've read in any novel, and the ending made me really happy. Good stuff.

Since I enjoyed that so much, I started reading Pact, by the same author, and I have to admit my spooky/magic loving ass is REALLY enjoying it so far.

I finished listening to season one of The Black Tapes Podcast, on [personal profile] peachpai's recommendation, today and I really enjoyed that too. Gonna start Tanis next.

I played The Beginner's Guide over the weekend and while it was definitely more of a narrated presentation, rather than a game, it was really sweet and wonderfully thought provoking. :( cut for spoilers )

Lmao the Gravity Falls teaser for the October 26th episode is killng me:

Bill what the fuck. But I do want to see where he's from since he described it as a "decaying dimension." Should be interesting lol.

Undertale is such a strange and delightful little game lmao. I'm trying to do a full pacifist route. We'll see if I lose patience with that decision before the end.
