Clearly, science is a human activity strongly influenced by the culture within which it is conducted. Scientists are people who eat and sleep, are timid or bold, are conservative or daring. We think that we understand, and hope that you do also, that no one uses the scientific method; that there are significant amounts of ambition, greed, luck, envy... probably even some sex, underlying the work that gets done and is called science.
