Ugh this moment. And everyone believes it too (also everyone there being so young makes it extra horrible). :( The whole Titan situation in AoT is so interesting to me because it's a neat look at a humanity that isn't the top of the food chain, so to speak, and all the neverending fear (that's always there no matter what) that goes with it.
