Spoilers for future events and I'm a little hopped up on cold medicine so not all of this may make sense.
EXCELLENT QUESTION, EREN.
I really loved that the anime showed the causalities that happened in this city a lot better than the manga did. While it was made pretty clear that Erwin was willing to sacrifice a ton of soldiers on the Female Titan Capture Expedition, it's a lot more clear here that the civilians and soldiers of this city was also a sacrifice he was willing to make (by even pulling this plan in such a populated area).

OOOOOH. I really liked this bit A LOT. The whole crystallization thing showed the basis of how the walls could have been made but this whole fusion thing added on to that by showing how you could connect a bunch of titans into walls.

Awww I'm a little disappointed that the anime switched out Armin for Mikasa in this scene because that scene is what I would consider, from just the visuals, the most romantic page in the story lmao:
OH MY GOD THIS LITTLE STORY. I LOVE IT. CREEPY SHIT. I WISH MORE EYECATCHES WOULD DO STORYTIME. And I guess this story is what would get the anime-only audience thinking about the last shot of the episode. HOPEFULLY.

JESUS CHRIST THIS REVEAL. I didn't really like the way this was revealed because LMAO I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE ANIME-ONLY PEOPLE WOULD THINK ABOUT IT. And I miss all the reactions of the everyone (the characters). But I guess the second season will probably do their own version of the reveal, which would be a pretty good season opener, so it's alright I guess. I WANT MORE.
OVERALL: I was REALLY excited about this adaptation since I love the source material AND I LOVED IT. I generally liked all the changes and additions AND I ADORED THE MUSIC, VOICE ACTION, ATMOSPHERE, ACTION, JUST LIKE EVERYTHING. I REALLY REALLY WANT MORE UGGGGGGH. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
