I love love LOVE how lush and beautiful the backgrounds always are.


Erwin is smart as fuck for coming up with what is essentially radar.


THIS WHOLE EPISODE THOUGH OMG. When I read the manga, this whole expedition was one of the most nervewracking things I've ever read and this episode captured that feeling perfectly for me. The music was amazing and the sound of those gigantic running footsteps was terrifying. I've spent my entire life living in fairly forested areas or at least non-open areas (New York, Tennessee, Georgia) so the sight of a really open sky kind of gives me the creeps. Lmao the first time I went out west (Montana, Utah, Wyoming) I was super weirded out the whole time because I could see so much of the sky (instead of so much of it always being framed by trees when I look up). ANYWAYS that added a lot for me in this episode because everything's so open and there's no where to hide (and barely anything to use the 3DMG with) and the sky is that horribly alien greenish yellow color AND IT'S SUCH GREAT ATMOSPHERE. I LOVE HORROR SERIES LIKE THIS.


Armin is wonderfully intelligent. <3



Extra wonderfully smart for realizing so quickly that there's a good chance that all three of the intelligent titans (that aren't Eren) are working together.

OH MY GOD. EVERY EPISODE. I'M UPSET ABOUT MARCO. God I never thought I would ship Jean/Marco this much. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ALSO JEANNNNN. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I feel bad about like never talking about him because I'm usually on a Levi related high (or fantasizing about banging Erwin) BUT JEAN IS GREAT. REALLY GREAT. His character development has been great, going from an annoying shithead to a more mature shithead (calling armin's attachment to eren creepy, how dare you). ALSO him kissing his sword right before he attacked the Female Titan? LOVE IT. ♥♥♥♥♥

ARMIN IS ACTUALLY SCARILY SMART. I don't actually remember if the anime kept in Eren's deathseeker nickname (was it Jean that called him that?) but good job Armin for getting the Female Titan's attention. (*4)




SPOILERS AHEAD, BEWARE:






(*1): GOD, REINER. I would guess that Reiner already has pretty strong feelings for his comrades because holy shit is Armin revealing to him that he's a really strong potential threat to B/R/A. Looking back, I would expect someone in his position to try and kill Armin (and Jean) right there (or at least let Annie do it). But I guess Annie really didn't want to kill Armin (even though he could have broken his neck falling off his horse, so who knows). She was definitely about to murder Jean though. :(

(*2): I LITERALLY WANT TO KICK REINER IN THE FACE. REPEATEDLY. LIKE I'M APPROACHING EREN LEVELS OF RAGE.

(*3): And him adding that he thinks it might be possible for Mikasa and Levi to kill her is a lovely contrast (prelude? forshadowing? I don't know what exactly actually) to Levi later deciding that he and Mikasa couldn't kill Annie (when they were attempting to rescue Eren).

(*4): AND testing if the FT was someone that KNEW Eren's nickname (which would only be people from the 104th trainee unit). ARMIN + TEN YEARS = ERWIN 2.0 JESUS CHRIST.
